The Revolution in Fine Chemical Production
Recent studies indicate a broad change from synthetic to natural compounds (i.e. natural products).
This revolutionary transition seeks to secure a sustainable and inexpensive resource for the chemicals found in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, flavor & fragrance, nutraceutical and other products.
Using its proprietary technologies, Xylon Biotechnologies has identified such a sustainable and inexpensive resource of over 200 chemicals in the discarded waste wood (biomass) of a North American cypress tree, Western Red Cedar.
Several of these chemicals have displayed powerful biological activities that make them applicable in a wide range of different market sectors and industries.
Among the currently identified applications are:
Pharmaceuticals (antibiotic, antitumor, antiviral, antifungal)
Cosmetics
Flavors & Fragrances
Pest repellents & insecticides
Nutraceuticals
By commercializing Western Red Cedar waste wood material into these and other valuable end products, Xylon adds an entirely new and complimentary layer of value to our forest economy.
Whereas traditional forest companies have focused solely on the "physics" of trees (the structural materials of logs used in lumber and paper), Xylon's advanced technologies allow for the commercialization of the biochemistry of the forests.
This approach to forest harvesting promotes the achievement of maximum value from our forests and in the process, provides a valuable new resource of biochemicals useful in a number of medical and consumer products.
